Jan Vertonghen on Spurs’ COVID-19 training plans, what he’s watching on…

first_imgTottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has revealed that their training schedule amid the Coronavirus lockdown is set to start next week. Spurs, like the rest of the Premier League, are currently on lockdown as clubs attempt to slow down the rapid spread of the virus. That has naturally affected training, with most electing to cancel group training and instead leave the players maintaining their fitness at home with specialised plans. That is certainly the case at Tottenham, with Vertonghen admitting he will have to get creative if he is to follow the strict plans.“Our training schedule starts next week,” he told television channel VIER, relayed by Voetbal Belgie.“We’ve got a bicycle setup, so I will have to keep fit with that. “My house is not very big, so I will have to be creative by walking up the stairs…”Embed from Getty ImagesLike many footballers, the central defender is currently on lockdown for the foreseeable future as the United Kingdom steps up its efforts against COVID-19.With the Premier League now not set to return until the end of April at the earliest, he will be forced to get creative in his attempts to stave off the boredom. And, it seems, like the rest of us, he will be turning to TV favourites to help stave off the stress of the situation.“You always have chores to do at home. Maybe now is the time to make time for that.“And for the rest make time for each other and talk a little. I liked Over Water and Chernobyl.“Usually, we watch a heavy series first and then watch something lighter, such as Expedition Robinson or Love Island. “That calms the evening. Otherwise, I go to sleep stressed.”While it will not be at the forefront of his mind at the moment, the Belgian defender will have a decision to make about his future before too long. His Tottenham contract is set to expire at the end of June, and so far there has been no indication he will be extending his eight-year stay in London.Several options have already been touted, including a return to Belgium, although he has hinted there are two clubs he can’t join.“When I choose Club Brugge, Vincent Kompany kills me. If I choose Anderlecht, my wife will kill me,” he added.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have.
