BACOLOD City – With the departure of five key players due to graduation, Bacolod Tay Tung High School’s girls volleyball team boosted its roster with the acquisition of open spiker Erika Deloria.Moving from Trinity Christian School, Deloria will suit up for Thunderbolts’ juniors squad in tournaments this year.“This opportunity is just too good to pass up,” the 16-year-old told Panay News.Adjustments will not be difficult, she said. “Most of them (Tay Tung players) were my teammates while representing Region 6 in Palarong Pambansa and National PRISAA,” Deloria said.Thunderbolts also elevated five players from its aspirants’ team – middle blocker Aurea Claudette Alvero, utility Annikha Cabasac, setter Katherine Shane Cortez, and setters Dya Mejos and Kathleen Kate Tan.Returning to Tay Tung’s lineup this year are Shane Carmona, Beatrice Decena, Alyssa Bertolano, Kiesha Dazzie Bedonia, Hannah Quanico, Joan Marie Monares, and Rhian Almendralejo.Gone from last year’s roster are Marianne Sotomil and Jeanny Padilla, both headed for University of the Philippines; Marixi Maligmat; Joan Doguna; and Nohlin Jundana.“We may lose a number of veteran players but I am optimistic that our incoming players can fill the gap,” Tay Tung vice president for sports Jose Montalbo said. “In fact our team got even stronger and we like our chances this year.”/PNlast_img
